[agenda-user] RE: Ethernet would be nice
Black Box corp. sells a hand full of devices that will work to add ethernet
to your Agenda. The best suited product is their Compact Terminal Server
(P/N LE995A-R4). This unit supports both SLIP and PPP. You configure
the unit via a terminal session or it can be configured to grab an IP address
from a RARP server. (no DHCP at this time). You can telnet into the unit
to configure it as well. It also supports LPD protocol so you can use it
as a print server to a serial device. Raw TCP/IP sockets are supported
as well. It's truly a 1 port terminal server. It's a small unit 1.2" X
2.6" X 4.9". It requires a 6VDC, 200ma unregulated power supply. The price
tag is $639.00. Not terrible if you are going to use your Agenda for a
portable network troubleshooting tool. Note that this unit only supports
10Mbps. If you are curious, I have full tech specs on this unit. You can
also contact Black Box directly at (724) 746-5500. I hope that this is
useful info. You may be able to find a cheaper unit out there, but at least
you know that such devices exist.
Cheers,
