linux 2.2.0 pre8 did not boot for me... FYI (fwd)

Me too.  AlphaPC164LX (PC164 config).

Froze right after

Normally it goes on like this:

FYI,

I just compiled 2.2.0 pre8 and it failed to boot off my 4.5GB Cheetah on 
a 3940UW SCSI controller. Froze right after saying 

scsi : 2 hosts

The system is a 21164a Miata.
