Don't know what it has to do with Linux (specifically), but this sounds
like an interesting little project.
The laptop is going to emulate the printer? By displaying and/or saving to
file the information that would usually be printed, I assume.
What constitutes "our phone system", that I presume is generating the
information available for print-logging. Are there any specs on the printer
interface it expects? Or does it just say "a serial printer"?
