I wanted to add some more info... I tried making a .qmail file with 
|/usr/local/bin/maildrop -d $USER changed the qmailDotMode to "dotonly"
(ldapdefaultdotmode is ldapwithprog) and it worked fine. However I dont
want to do it this way if possible, I want to use ldap for it.
