The address eljay@xxxxxxxxxxxxx is not on the list twice.  However, you
could have another address on the list which also ends up in your mailbox. 
Here's a tip for you and anyone else having similar problems:

Look at the Return-Path line in the headers of your emails:

Return-Path:
<pilot-pda-return-784-treed=ultraviolet.org@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>   

Encoded is the address on the list which caused you to get that particular
email. In my case it is treed@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Check the duplicate emails
and see if they have different addresses in the Return-Path line. This is
also how you find out what email address you are subscribed with when you
try to unsubscribe and it tells you that you are not subscribed to the
list.
