Re: Pilot: Batteries-Rechargable
Serial stuff *REALLY* drains the juice quickly. You'll really notice the
difference if you try to keep both your home machine and your work machine
fully synchronized every day; when you give up on one of them, your battery
life will go Zoom! through the roof (I only sync my home machine 1/month or
so now).
Of, if you're a developer and need to upload your program a lot ...

Sort of along this line... Is it normal to get only 10-15 days usage out of
non-rechargeable Duracell batteries on a PalmIII? I never use the
backlight, but I do a lot of RS232 stuff (like using an external modem and
web browsing, etc...) I probably use it maybe an hour or an hour and a half
per day.
Thanks

reach 2.30V (for the pair), they should be changed IMMEDIATELY. Once a NiCd
drops away, the voltage disappears really fast! They run at about
2.51-2.54V for most of their life, so it is easy to tell when they are on
the way out. I use Battery Monitor by Peter Strobel and change them at 400
mAh indicated (I am using Arlec brand batteries indicating 220 mAh each).
As far as life goes, I get around 6-10 days out of the NiCds (about 8hrs of
on-time) and around 30hrs on-time (about 1 month usage) from Duracell
alkalines. With the Palm III's extra memory and backlight, maybe less.
