I am pleased to announce version 0.5.2 of PalmPython, a conduit
programming kit which enables desktop applications to access
PalmPilots and their data.  PalmPython is available at the following
URL:

PalmPython is written in and for the Python programming language; it
is developed on Unix, but may be portable to other platforms as well.
Its features include:
  - Full support for PalmPilot synchronization protocols (via the
    popular pilot-link library)
  - Read and write local databases in the standard PDB/PRC format
  - Local and remote databases use the same API
  - Extensive use of Python's object-oriented programming features
  - Record format support for Address, Datebook, Memo, To Do, Doc,
    MoneyManager, and XWord
  - Conduit API, sync session manager, and basic conduits (backup,
    install, and time sync)
  - Tk-based user interface objects for use in applications
Changes since pre-0.5.0 versions include:
  - Major changes to the record API
  - New configuration file format and location
  - Updates to the Doc writer
  - Plug-in API
  - Reorganized sync management code
  - Changed license to LGPL
PalmPython requires the pilot-link library, which can be found at
<URL:ftp://ryeham.ee.ryerson.ca/pub/PalmOS/>.
A Debian GNU/Linux package of PalmPython is available as part of the
Debian "slink" distribution; Debian users may install it via dselect.
PalmPython is free software, available under the terms of the GNU
Library General Public License v2.
