RE: [RCSE] Re: DAW KA6
I think there is confusion here. Do you mean tow release for aerotow as is
common for scale ships, or releasable towhook for winching or high start?
If you are refering to a tow release (as in the nose of the plane, for
aerotow) scale protocol puts that function on the retract switch,(channel 5
JR) or a switch separate from spoilers, (if the plane is equipped with
spoilers) Having the tow release on a switch accessible to one finger of
either hand allows for instant and readily confirmable engage/disengagement.
Mixing this function with another is always risky as unexpected releases can
and will happen. sometimes on a large scale ship this is unavoidable and the
aerotow release is mixed with a retract. This at least mixes the release
with a function that does not affect the flying of the ship. Fly the launch
with your finger on the switch for instant emergency release.

The channel assigments given by Gary are essentially correct. JR channel
assignments are different than Futaba (there is no "standard"). I would
suggest that he use ch1 or ch8 for his tow release. If ch1 is used the
servo will follow every movement of the throttle/spoilers stick. Once
released it doesn't make any difference what the release servo does. The
other option, ch8, will make the release servo move with the crow/landing
switch. Once again after release the release servo can move even though
you are using the switch for another function... but it just won't make any
difference.
