[RCSE] Stork Performs
Finally got enough experience with the Stork to sky it out on
thermals hand launching from a hill... done it a few times now;
It eats up the sky. Its a space cruiser.
After replacing the wing panel from the first flight (when I
stalled it too close to the ground) I still couldn't seem to
get it trimmed, so I couldn't work any lift. Turned out to
be a ruddervator servo not centering properly. Replacing it
made all the difference. Now it is hyper-precise in pitch,
and predictable.
The Stork is a very awesome sailplane once you get it dialed in.
Its more tempermental than the Bird of Prey (a prodigy performer
more agile and forgiving in a small space). But I'm convicned now
that having to fly a little more conservatively and in wider arcs
such a small price to pay for thorobred performance.
The wing is so clean and efficient it sounds a little like a jet
engine when doing a low fast pass over your head. You can hear
the wind uniformly peeling off the whole 11' 3" razor T.E. at once
relaminating extremely evenly, revealing a precise articulartion of
the speed, power and forces driving it. Never heard anything like it.
Really psyched about this one.
Thanks again for yet another awesome plane, Sal.
As always, worth the wait. Well worth it.
And thanks for the encouragement and feedback about this one
Jim Bacus and Gordy.
