[RCSE] RC gang does Avenal

RC boys racing full scale gliders....news

Firstly, a public thanks to Ben Clerx, Mike Reagan, and Paul Trist
for their assistance boxing up my glider after I TWICE didn't finish
the course.  They teamed up and shared seats in a Grob103 owned
by So Cal Douglas Soaring Association and did well in Sports class
finishing second (I think).
I flew an ASW-20 in 15 meter class and covered about half the course
both days that I competed.  The weather was challenging, with no cumulus
clouds in the area and thermals to only about 4000 ft above ground.
Thermal finding was a combination of gaggles, ground signs (dust devils)
and a fair amount of luck. I managed 74 miles Saturday and 64 miles
on Sunday, and am proud to have not finished last!

Token RC on topic info: Mike Reagan was seen specking his HLG glider
between full scale activities at the airport.
