[RCSE] 2-meter's & servo's....
It's been a long time (6-7 years) since I've had to outfit a 2-meter glider
with servo's, but alas my old servo's are showing signs of wear and tear,
and I'd like to replace them before we get too far along in the season.
I previously used JR's (341's for ailerons, 351's for flaps). Knowing that
servo technology has come a long way in the last 5 years, I'm wondering if
there is a more appropriate servo I should look to as replacements. Might
be able to shead a few oz's here or there, or maybe reduce size or
something. Don't get me wrong, I've been very happy with the JR's (at
least the 351's), but while I'm here, I thought I'd check, thus the
following questions:
1) If you were to outfit a new, full-house 2-meter competition ship, what
servo's would you use throughout if cost were no objective?
2) Same question as number 1, but this time bearing costs in mind. (I
don't want the cheapest, but a good alternative to the most expensive
should also be considered.)
3) If you were to outfit a new, full-house 2-meter competiton ship TRYING
TO REMAIN AS LIGHT AS POSSIBLE, would you use the same servo's? (Might
eventually have to sell this plane, and you know how picky Mike is in
requiring under 40 oz 2-meter planes!) ;)
These servo's are targeted for a Super V which is flown *hard* in
competition, thus I'm looking for something reliable both in performance
and durability. Normal landings (no dorking, I like my planes to last a
bit), but bend-me-'til-I-scream launches, zooms, some high speed travel and
the like.
Any and all ideas welcome, respond direct to me please, so we don't start a
war-of-the-servo's thread.
