Although (in this case) a properly soldered joint can have the same
electrical/mechanical properties as a crimped joint, it takes someone
who has lots of the soldering skill necessary to achieve it. Usually,
too much solder is applied that serves no purpose other than to wick
down the lead creating a point of failure.
Crimp connectors offer the most consistancy and repeatability
(industry-wide), when done correctly. Failure to use the proper
equipment may have very undesirable consequences.
I build servo extensions and sell them to my IMAC friends for large
powered aerobats using high-tech wiring/cabling (twisted, also single or
double shielded for extraneous EMI/RFI, 24ga-high strand count) and
quality-crimped connectors. These are made to your specifications.
And no (unfortunately), there is really nothing out there that will
allow someone who holds an iron on an irregular basis to do a
satisfatory job every time :^)
